WEDDING SKINCARE TIPS THAT DON’T INVOLVE MAKE-UP

Updated: Apr 12, 2021

You don’t need five layers on your face to make you look stunning at your destination wedding in Goa. And contrary to popular belief, it isn’t just brides who need to include a skincare routine into their wedding planning in Goa. Both hubs and bubs should glow on their big day and we’re here to give you some easy tips to get there.

Manage stress

Wedding planning in Goa can be harrowing. You’ll have to-do lists to complete flying in from all sides and the end just never seems near. So just like you slot in time for everything else, schedule some time to yourself too. Meditation is a great way to reduce stress. Try at least 15 minutes to a half-hour of guided meditation every day - there are tons of free videos online.

Talking to a trusted person about challenging things can also help alleviate stress. And do you know why stress is bad? It can cause wrinkles and aggravate existing skin issues such as psoriasis, hives and eczema. No can do!

Skincare appointment

We know this sounds like getting a list of make-up creams for your destination wedding in Goa, but it isn’t. A dermatologist is better qualified to assess your current state than you or your bathroom mirror. You’ll need time to work on acne issues, inflammation and even dandruff. It’s best to hit up the specialist early on so you can rein in those problems from the get-go.

Diet & exercise

This is one of the toughest game plans to stick by, but works wonders for your skin. There have been brides who have celebrated their wedding day without a trace of makeup thanks to a healthy diet and regular exercise. But the good news is, this one’s a double whammy. If you want to look fit and fabulous, take this challenge on with a vengeance.

Include colour in your diet - lots of fresh fruit and vegetables. Opt for raw veggies without the drippings of mayo, your favourite sabji minus the ladling of ghee. Keep the proteins lean and mean, and fuel up with at least 2-3 litres of water every day.

Start slow on your workout regimen if you haven’t been regular before. Get together with your spouse-to-be for some added motivation. And remember, strength training is great for everyone - yes, even women! Regular exercise improves blood circulation and transports all those healthy nutrients you’ve been consuming to your skin. Hello, glowing skin!

Exfoliate & moisturise

Exfoliation removes the dead cells from the outer layer of your skin, and helps prevent clogged pores. You can use natural scrubs twice or thrice a week for the best results with ingredients from your kitchen such as brown sugar or used coffee grounds.

Hand-in-hand with exfoliation is moisturising which helps your skin maintain its balance. Moisturising keeps it from getting dry or excessively oily, and will ensure you have supple skin in time for your destination wedding in Goa. When stepping out, slap on some sunblock to avoid getting burned.

Sleep

Another goodie but toughie is ensuring you get at least eight hours of sleep every night. It will be tough closer to the wedding, but it’s a toss-up between hangovers + dark circles, and rest + gorgeous skin. Sleep helps repair the skin, preventing sagging, reducing wrinkles and age spots. So schedule in some shut-eye and get ready to slay on your big day!
